Why Children Should See a Chiropractor
When a child is born, they can be affected by trauma, and that only increases as they get older. The birthing process can relate in pulling and tugging on the baby’s neck, even more so if a vacuum or forceps is used. As a result, your child might be fussy, colicky or have other issues such as constipation. You may take them on a long car ride and worry about their comfort in the car seat. If you can tell something just isn’t right, we suggest you take them to our office for a check.
From the time a child learns to walk, they’re always on the go. As they start to climb playground equipment, wrestle with their siblings and ride their bikes, there are several forms of stress that can affect their health. We can examine them and determine if they can benefit from chiropractic.
Adjusting a baby or child isn’t like adjusting an adult. Unlike someone fully grown, an infant has a lot of cartilage in their body. All that’s necessary to adjust them is the pressure of a fingertip. There is no thrusting or force involved.
Can chiropractic help with colic?
Colic can be caused by pressure on the nerves. When we remove this pressure, a child’s digestive system can function better.
We understand that some kids might expect the worst from a doctor’s office. They can be held by a parent or lie on Dr. Franz’s lap if they choose. Once they’re adjusted and realize it’s no big deal, they’ll look forward to their visits with us.
There is nothing special that we need from you. You’ll fill out paperwork for your child, then meet with us to talk about why you’re here. Dr. Franz will evaluate your child and determine if chiropractic can help them. If so, they’ll get an adjustment.
